HOW DOES MANDELIC ACID WORK?
Mandelic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA). AHA's work by gently exfoliating the layers of dead skin away to reveal brighter, clearer skin as well as help to clear pores and create a more even tone. EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid can be used as a refreshing Summer peel, as an anti-aging or pigmentation peel in those at risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It can also be used as part of a rosacea protocol, reducing the severity and frequency of blushing and flushing and reducing the appearance of broken capillaries (telangiectasia) or as part of a hydration protocol to help target dry and damaged skin and hydration issues at every level of the skin.
WHY DO WE USE MANDELIC ACID PEELS?
Most common AHA peels like glycolic acid or lactic acid (or a combination of both) are quickly absorbed into the skin. For some, that rapid absorption leads to redness, irritation and significant flaking. EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid (MA) has larger molecules that are more slowly absorbed into the skin. The slower absorption rate means a more gentler exfoliation, making it suitable for patients with sensitive skin and even those with rosacea. EnerPeel® Mandelic Acid has other benefits beyond including antibacterial and antiviral properties and helps to encourage vascular turnover and regeneration.
Not only can we use the EnerPeel® Mandelic peel independently but we can also combine it with microneedling as part of a combined rejuvenation protocol targeting both visual and deep structural tissue to achieve better results.
As with all of our skin treatments, patients are required to have a skin consultation including skin analysis prior to any skin treatment recommendation.
